YouTube star gets sentenced for playing Pokémon Go in church

UPDATE 04-11: Amnesty International is reporting that Ruslan Sokolovsky has been sentenced to a three-and-a-half year suspended prison sentence by a court in Yekaterinburg this morning. The YouTuber was found guilty of “inciting hatred” and “offending believers’ feelings.” Read the full story about his arrest in September below. Russia takes religion very seriously. Popular YouTuber Ruslan Sokolovsky learned this the hard way when local authorities detained him for two months after he posted a video of himself playing Pokémon Go in church. The vlogger was subsequently charged with “inciting hatred” and “insulting religious feelings” and now reportedly faces up to five years in jail if convicted.…
